Veneers require a slight removal of the front surface enamel of the tooth to be placed properly. This allows the veneer to be bonded to the tooth without pushing out the lip or causing irritation. With proper application and care, veneers may last anywhere from 10-30 years.
Types of Veneers
E-Max Porcelain Veneers
These require 2 appointments apx. 3 days apart (minimum) to complete.
No-Prep” Veneers
Like traditional veneers “no-prep” veneers are bonded to the front surface of the teeth. Minimal preparation and “no-prep” options do not require the dentist to remove the tooth enamel for proper placement. Inquire to see if you are a candidate for this procedure.
Lumineers
Brand name “No-Prep” veneers done in the Lumineer Labs.
Crafting your new smile
Appointment 1
Dr. Baker will take an impression of your teeth to create the veneers in a lab. The veneers will take about 7 business days of lab time to create. After preparing the tooth, she will make temporary veneers.
Appointment 2
When your permanent veneers are ready, you may come for your second appointment to check that the new veneer is a perfect fit. The permanent veneers will be bonded temporarily to check the fit and alignment. If any adjustments need to be made, it will be done at this time. With your approval, the teeth will then be cleaned and the dental veneers will be bonded to the tooth.
Your new smile is now ready!
Follow up
You may be a little bit sore for a few days after the first and second appointments. You may take pain medication if needed. Rest and a cold compress to reduce swelling can help. Dr. Baker recommends that patients watch what they eat for a few days and stick with foods that are soft. After recovery, the results are a stunning transformation of your appearance.
